Welcome to the Prairie section of Flowers Canada Growers (FCG). The prairies, made up of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, are mostly known for their grasslands. They typically experience weather extremes, and have a shorter growing season. Also, the southern prairies are semi-arid and are highly prone to frequent and severe droughts. This harsher climate means that most floriculture production is done in greenhouse facilities.

The floriculture industry in Alberta, Sasketchewan and Manitoba:
  • 7.45% of the total floriculture sector in Canada
  • $107.3 million in sales each year
  • $393.8 million estimated total economic impact
